The city of Boca Raton offers wonderful opportunities for exposures, which isa key part of CBT and ERP therapy for anxiety and OCD for children and adults!
When working with individuals who struggle with panic attacks, one common trigger is worrying about being in an enclosed place without an easy exit. A great exposure to practice this type of situation, is taking the Brightline Train, which has a station in Boca Raton.
Another common trigger for panic attacksis being in places with big crowds. After using CBT tools in our therapy sessions to learn to cope with anxiety, a challenging exposure practice would be to attend an event at the Mizner Park Amphitheater.
For those struggling with social anxiety, an exposure practice might include heading over to Mizner Park, to practice casual interactions with unfamiliar people at shops, restaurants, and pop-up events.

Dr. Penela's Personal Favorite Spots in Boca Raton!
Sugar Sand Park - my kids LOVE this park! The carrousel, the giant playground, and the science museum make this place a fun all-in-one kind of adventure.
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens - this is a beautiful and peaceful place where I sometimes go to disconnect and practice mediation, deep-breathing and mindfulness. I have not yet made it to their Lantern Festival, but hope to go soon!
Red Reef Park - there are so many beautiful beaches in South Florida to choose from, but this one is always a favorite. It has a playground tucked away in the shade for the kids, and when we bring our snorkel gear, we usually find something interesting!
